Seattle Central Little League (SCLL) is a community-based, volunteer organization serving boys and girls, ages 4 to 14 in the downtown and central Seattle area. SCLL runs baseball and softball programs from February through July and is affiliated with
Little League International, based in Williamsport, PA.
The league covers the neighborhoods from the ship canal to I-90, and from Elliot Bay to Lake Washington. SCLL games are played at various fields including Garfield Playfield and Judkins Playfield. SCLL also plays interleague games with Rainier District Little League (the Little League neighbors to the south). Older division teams play games across WA District 7, as well as neighboring districts.
Around 1992 SCLL then President, Ron Bolton, through a connection with Herald Reynolds (retired Mariner), received a donation of $10,000. Ron Bolton then purchased new uniforms and gear and from that point on all SCLL teams were named after Negro League Teams.
Baseball and softball offer many opportunities for youth to grow their athletic and social skills, and learn valuable lessons in teamwork, dedication and persistence while having a lot of fun and building a community.
